Join the Crew
Volunteer with Coastal Steward Long Island
Whether you are interested in fieldwork or building up the organization from behind the scenes, we’d love your help. It takes a year-round community to restore and protect the Long Island Sound.
Seasonal Fieldwork (May – October)
Raise Oysters
We meet roughly every two weeks at Cedar Beach in Mount Sinai to keep our ecosystems thriving. Join our community of volunteers to help our Oyster Restoration Program.
- Clean shellfish bags and monitor oyster growth.
- Help us educate visitors and give tours.
- Participate in our oyster release days.
Year-Round Capacity & Strategic Growth (Always Active)
building our organization is a year-round effort. We are always looking for skills-based volunteers to help expand our reach, optimize our operations, and lay the groundwork to bring our paused legacy programs back to life.
Fundraising
Help us secure the funding needed to support our oyster program and reactivate our legacy programs.
Marketing, Creative, & Social Media
Help us tell the story of the Long Island Sound through digital content creation, newsletter writing, and local community networking.

Program Revitalization Leaders
We need strategic thinkers to help design budgets, plan logistics, and recruit volunteer pools so we can bring these programs back online.
Corporate Partnerships
Connect us with local Long Island businesses looking for impactful corporate social responsibility (CSR) sponsorships.
